Took me a while to work out what was happening. Saw it first when I wasn't as clued in as to what was happening and the meaning behind the film

How odd is odd? A film with a cast of characters that made my world seem normal. Haven't seem many Bruno Dumont films with humour in them. Most of the time they are sad and grim. Nice to smile again.

Just glad that my life wasn't like the lead character. A depressingly sad film about the mistakes we make and the dreams we have and how ultimately all ends in mysery even if there is a little fun and games in between.

Brilliant. Read somewhere that it is trying to give an explanation for the rise of fanaticism in children who are raised in a very strict society. I wonder is it true now that we have seen the rise of fanaticism all around Europe, Britain and the USA?

a delightful film about a boy and a balloon and how it follows him around. through jealousy other boys kill it and all the balloons in Paris come to the boy and he is taken away into the sky
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10 Ciske de Rat (1984)
This is a very good film about a boy, basically abandoned by his parents, and his interaction with his prostitute mother. Things come to ahead and he is sent to prison and one's heart goes out to him when he has to strip totally to get his prison clothes. After prison he saves the life of a boy and he is now in everyone's good books. This ending spoiled the emotional dept of the film for me. Too Hollywoodlike.

What is it about Icelandic films? They are so depressing and this one about two boys one who finds himself attracted sexually to his best friend only to be rebuffed and his resultant depression. Found the film very absorbing but did wonder about the home life of people in Iceland!

Enjoyed the film but was a bit confused at times. Felt that the main character, Mick, looked too old, as did some of the others, to be school boys.

I avoided watching this film because of the vampire nature in it. Watched it since I was trying to track the way the director's, Ivor Noel, was going. It wasn't as scary as I feared and I still not too sure what happened.
