Short Film

Country: Belgium

Genre: Art Film, Short

A man and a boy are in the middle of a desert that used to be the bottom of the largest river in the world. Together, they start a search for the last drop of water. Their exploration launches a breathtaking play of lines, structures and dynamics. "O" is a lyrical film about the return to purity, pure emotions and sincere wonder, and above all an ode to natural beauty.

  • This short film (a little over 23 minutes in length) is the debut movie of Belgian filmmaker Pieter-Jan De Pue (b. 1982). His next film would be his feature length movie The Land of the Enlightened (2016).
  • Selected at numerous international festivals, "O" received the 3rd prize at the 'United Nations Environmental Awards' in Alméria as well as special mentions at the ‘Grote Ongeduld' (Brussels) and 'Sleepwalkers' (Tallinn) festivals.
  • This film features both adult male and boy actors. However, although the names of the actors are listed in the credits, their roles in the film are not specified, so that it is not possible from the credits to identify which of the actors are boys and which are men. For this reason, none of the cast list on this page is in bold type. (If you know which of the listed cast were boys, then the administrators would greatly appreciate it if you could contact them so that they can update this Profile page - use the 'Contact' button at the top of this page, or post a message in the Forum.)

Took me a while to work out what was happening. Saw it first when I wasn't as clued in as to what was happening and the meaning behind the film
