Fantastic drama/fantasy along the lines of A Christmas Carol. Brilliant debut by Phillip Dowling as well.

Little Monsters (2003)

Highly entertaining show - they've picked a good mix of kids with strong characters.

The question is always there though - how much input did the kids actually have? Sometimes it seems like the challenges are designed by adults who are trying to think like kids.

I haven't seen the original series, but I'm quite sure this isn't a patch on it.

Rollo Weeks was good, Jim Carter's comic bits were good, the rest was twee if not bad, and Richard E. Grant should bloody well know better.

Fantastic stream of consciousness drama about the life of a lonely boy.

Look Who's Talking Now (1993)

Quite watchable family comedy. The celebrity voice-over thing was only really amusing in the first movie, but they've done enough with the movies since so as not to be an annoyance.

Lord of the Flies (1963)

THE classic adaptation of William Golding's novel.

Lord of the Flies (1990)

An Americanised version of the novel in all the ways that it could be. To my mind the whole point of the novel was that, on arrival at the island, the boys were all innocent and untouched by the horrors that humanity can subject itself to, which is then destroyed as anarchy and violence take over. The boys in this movie however are older and far more worldy-wise, which makes the transition from innocence to evil rather pointless. Peter Brook's version is far superior.

Still, some good scenes nonetheless :)

Very well written, and well acted by all concerned - an interesting insight into a not so well known part of British royal family history.

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)

Fantastic. Compared with the first Mad Max, directorially it does play hopscotch between Hollywood and Australia, but still bloody good :)

On its own, not bad, pass the time of evening film. But as the supposed third Mad Max film - please, god, no.

Malcolm in the Middle (2000-2006)

Absolutely superb. It's one of those rare sitcoms in which the producers see sense and omit the canned laughter.
