Jesus Henry Christ (2012)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Jojo Rabbit (2019)
I really enjoyed this film! Roman Griffin Davis is a great actor, especially given the tricky balance of humor and tragedy in this story. There's a definite Wes Anderson vibe here, and a WWII film from a different vantage point was refreshing. You almost feel disappointed when the quirky, pleasant (except for those public executions) Nazi town falls to the Allies.
The downside is that the Elsa character is rather unpleasant and unsympathetic, and Jojo's clear projection of a father figure onto Hitler isn't really explored. And, as usual, at the end the Americans are shown as the benevolent liberators and the USSR cold and cruel.

Very charming and sweetly funny film. Masahiko Shimazu as Isamu is particularly delightful.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Only (2008)
I liked the naturalistic style. Really gives you a window into life in Northern Ontario.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Le Petit Nicolas (2009)
Lovely film with nice actors.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10A Quiet Place (2018)
This was a well-made horror film. It must have been a challenge for the cast given how much of it was non-verbal.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Real Steel (2011)

My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Road to Happiness (1942)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Solarbabies (1986)
Strange, but very entertaining! The dystopian elements are a little cliche but there are a few intersting twists. Lukas gives a great performance and the other "Solarbabies" do a pretty good job. If you are a Lukas Haas fan you won't want to pass on this one!
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Son of Rambow (2007)
