Second Best (1994)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Secondhand Lions (2003)
A bit predictable, a lot of cliches but I got a huge kick out of this movie. The acting contest between two old venerables Michael Caine and Robert Duvall, with the help of one of the best boy actors of the last 50 years, is a real treat.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10The Secret Garden (1949)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Sipur Hatzi-Russi (2006)
Very similar in subject and theme to 'Billy Elliot.' I found it just as charming except for several unpalatable adult characters.
Vladimir Volov is very charismatic and a beautiful boy. I suspect that he is a notable dancer in some arena or other but found no information to bear this out.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Son of Rambow (2007)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Söndagsbarn (1992)
Scripted by Ingmar Bergman, directed by his son (i am getting old). Adult haunted by love/hate memories of his father. Henrik Linnros lightens things up a lot!
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Sorstalanság (2005)
This is a great movie and extremely powerful.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Storm Boy (1976)
Greg Rowe is extremely appealing and a very expressive young actor. He sure looks cute barefoot!
Every boy should have a wise Aborigine to tell him the truth about life and death.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Taare Zameen Par (2007)
I'm glad I got through that first hour! Turned out to be a very touching and heartwarming experience. Lovely boys.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)
Ok, I'm partial to Edward Furlong. In the role of a smartass kid, he also comes across as vulnerable. Exciting movie. The tiresome mother character doesn't spoil it for me. My favorite Arnold line here: "Uncle Bob?"
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10The Testimony of Taliesin Jones (2000)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Ti kniver i hjertet (1994)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Tom & Thomas (2002)
Aaron Johnson is the heart and soul of this, admittedly, a bit contrived story. Aaron was so full of boyish animation and charisma.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Torzók (2001)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10The Tree of Life (2011)
Awesome, beautiful, touching.
To me, it seemed like an attempt to blend the errors and sorrows of humans with the natural rhythms of the evolving universe, and that love plays a part in all. (But I can just hear the director shouting, "Don't try to interpret, just experience it!")
Also, some of the finest boy acting I've seen so far.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Two Soldiers (2003)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Unstrung Heroes (1995)
A bit of a disjointed plot, I thought - but I just loved it. The acting is wonderful all around. I felt almost at home with these characters! Well, my nutty uncles weren't quite THAT nutty but they had their moments. :-)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Le Vieil homme et l'enfant (1967)
A tender story that occurs against a background of cruel realities. There are lots of grey areas here and some three dimensional characters. 'Grampa' has loads of prejudices and opinions but still forms a loving bond with his adorable 'grandson', who is Jewish.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Vincent (2004)
a very late review!
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10La Vita è bella (1997)
One of a kind and wonderful. The scene where Guido 'translates' the Nazi's orders had me laughing. And then crying. I'd heard of that but always thought it was bull. Guido's spirit reminds me of someone.
