6 / 10 I haven't read the book, so from a rather unbiased perspective I was profoundly impressed by the story and Asa's performance. I for once enjoyed the 100 minutes rollercoaster ride.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10 Granting the need to condense and change a novel to fit the needs of film storytelling, there must be a way of doing it without tearing out the soul of the novel. This has happened here, particularly with the ending. Crucial information is left out and leaves the story with just a generalized anti-war message. To say more would spoil the novel for those who haven't read it.

My Movie Rating: 6 / 10 8 / 10 I like anything Asa does! and with this movie I discovered Aramis Knight, and will be checking out more of his movies!
I wasn't very impressed with the movie over all, but was quite impressed with Asa and Aramis! my 9/10 rating goes them exclusively!

9 / 10 To be honest, I only went to see it because Asa Butterfield was in it, and yes, his being in it was about the only thing to really recommend it. It wasn't a terrible film, but I didn't feel the immersion in the story that I was expecting, it didn't feel as 'epic' as it perhaps should have done.
