The Boy Who Could Fly (1986)
Well meaning and generally good. I think the movie would have more power by leaving out the fantasy element.

The Boys of St. Vincent (1992)
As a film story it is riveting. But. . .
The film invites everyone to suspect that boys left in the care of male clergy will be beaten and sexually abused, and never loved.
A fictional account based on true events. The disclaimer opens the door to bias and sensationalism. Where does the fiction end and the truth begin?

Charlie St. Cloud (2010)
An extremely touching premise, that of a unique relationship between older and younger brother, was almost totally ruined by the film's heart-throb emphasis on the older brother and his girlfriend. But that's just me in the new-age Disney era.
Unfortunately, the book has the same problem, although book and movie have some beautiful moments.

A Child Is Waiting (1963)
pretty good. Bruce Ritchie is a heart-stealer.
Cassavetes directed, but thank heaven someone kicked him out of the editing room.

A Christmas Carol (1999)
A very good screen treatment, well acted. Just about every male actor under age 15 is a total charmer.

A Circle of Children (1977)
Its been many years but I still remember how adorable Matt Laborteaux looked and acted in a TV film I haven't since seen a trace of.

Would have been much better if there were not so much back-story given by narration.

A Cool, Dry Place (1998)
Bobby Moat is cute and charming as all get out and his performance makes this a pretty decent movie for me. This movie made me notice a practice that has become very popular and often annoying in US films, that of playing some folk-songy, ballady plaint over non-dialog scenes. Here, that type of thing really annoyed me by obscuring the sounds of the little boy's laughter in a 'playing outdoors' scene.
