Sammy Going South (1963)

Unfortunately, I've never seen the original release, Sammy Going South! and growing up, I watched A Boy Ten Feet Tall, many times through out my childhood, and have enjoyed it several times since. The last few times seeing this wonderful movie, I did realize that the American version was edited, and quite badly in my opinion. Now, I must find a UK version of this film, so I can finally see the movie in it's full length!

Song of the South (1946)

8/20/17:

My hat is off to Diogenes, for that most eloquent review! I could not have said it better!

I first saw this movie at Drive-in, with my family in the early 1970s! at the time I didn't know it had already reached the status of classic! and years later I watched it again on VHS, and didn't realize then that it was Bobby that played Johnny, I still to this day remember most of the songs from the movie, especially the ones Uncle Remus sung! I think, because of it's Racial classification, it's very hard to obtain a copy today, I did find it on YouTube once and watched, then went back a few months later to see it again, and it had been deleted, because a violation of User agreement

I think Uncle Remus was singing because of his joy of being free! It's factual, everything is satisfactual!!

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994)

If you're a Fan of the older Sci-fi stuff, this show was made back when CGI first started. for me, it wasn't just the boys in the show that drew me to it, it was the tech too, I do give this show a 'Must Watch' rating, because back then, I was very much a trekkie!

Storm Boy (1976)

It amazes me how long I've went through life, not knowing about this movie! I found it on YouTube, I watched, and was mesmerized by Greg, My heart hurt for the Storm boy when he lost his bird, I loved this movie so much I had to have it on DVD, by chance, I was at a book store that sells used DVD and VHS! so now I own the movie, and I'll probably use a screen cap of Greg as my avatar.

Stranger Things (2016-????)

Great Character development, a beautiful blending of live action and CGI! This one of the best shows to come along in a while, this show will take you through most emotions!

Caution! make sure to watch Seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix, BEFORE watching Beyond Stranger Things, this is because Beyond is a conference style talk about the show in detail, and there a lot of Spoilers! at the end S2. Beyond will start automatically. Oh, btw, I love the music in the show!

Super 8 (2011)

Did anyone notice the movie had a kind of ETishness to it, that's because the Director was a student of Spielberg's! I gave this movie a BIG 10/10, because I thoroughly enjoyed Joel, he was my sole reason for watching, The era was, I believe 1978 or 79, the late 70's were the prominent years for my teen years, I could relate to some of the elements, but at the same time, some of it seemed inaccurate.

I too had never seen Joel before, he was discovered by a Talent Agency when he accompanied his older brother to an Auditioning, and to look at Joel's sweet face, it's easy to see WHY he was signed almost immediately!

The Confirmation (2016)

A charming father and son movie, or as I prefer to call them, dad and son movie! because in my opinion, anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special, to be a dad! especially a volunteer dad! i.e. a man who gets married and takes his wife's kids AS his own! I personally know someone like this, she had 4 kids from a previous marriage, and the dead beat dad was nowhere to be found, and my friend stepped up and they married, they had two kids between them, and now ten years plus later, they are a big happy family!

This is just another reason I love Dad and Son movies! and you will love this one if you feel the same as I.

You'll either love it or hate it! I haven't yet decided how I feel about the movie as a whole! but, I am in total love with Gabriel and the boy who played him! I'll update this review later after I've seen it in full.
