Synopsis
A ten year-old English boy's parents are killed in Port Said during the 1956 Suez crisis. Armed with a toy compass he sets off, alone and on foot, to trek the length of Africa, 4500 miles, to find his only relative, an aunt in Durban, South Africa. After the death of his first guide, an erstwhile peddler, Sammy is rescued by a wealthy tourist. Not anxious to return to Port Said, Sammy then links up with a crafty old hunter/diamond smuggler (Edward G. Robinson), whose life is saved by the boy.

Unfortunately, I've never seen the original release, Sammy Going South! and growing up, I watched A Boy Ten Feet Tall, many times through out my childhood, and have enjoyed it several times since. The last few times seeing this wonderful movie, I did realize that the American version was edited, and quite badly in my opinion. Now, I must find a UK version of this film, so I can finally see the movie in it's full length!
