Little Monsters (2003)

Highly entertaining show - they've picked a good mix of kids with strong characters.

The question is always there though - how much input did the kids actually have? Sometimes it seems like the challenges are designed by adults who are trying to think like kids.

A good adaptation of the novel by Tony Parsons.

Wow! I love this movie, even though its twee, and at times utterly awful.

The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter (1990)

Watchable enough, and Johnathon Brandis gives an ok performance, but it doesn't quite have the magical sparkle of the first.

Oliver Twist (2005)

I can't quite put my finger on why, but I feel very indifferent about this movie.

Barney Clark was good as Oliver, Ben Kingsley was very good as Fagin, and the rest of the cast were good. It was watchable enough as a whole, but I just didn't feel as 'drawn into' the movie as I was expecting to be.

Pete's Dragon (2016)

Lovely family film. Maybe I think about these things too much, but after Pete was left alone in the forest after his parents died, it took me until half way through the film to stop crying.

Rent-a-Kid (1995)

Not a great credit to Leslie Nielsen's career. Follows the format - whacky idea, well known whacky comedy actor to give it weight, throw in some children to bring the whacky idea down to earth, whacky comedy actor sees error of his ways, happy ever after.

The River Wild (1994)

Good action movie, with one or two interesting sub-plots concerning father-son relationships. Meryl Streep can be a little annoying though.

No more and no less than what I was expecting - occasionally amusing family comedy with a little too much heart string tugging towards the end.

An amusing film. Billy Bob Thornton plays a wonderfully horrible character.

General opinion seems to be bad about this movie. Maybe I'm just blinded because I'm a big fan of Haley, but I loved it :-)
