Synopsis
An adaptation of the famous autobiography by Gerald Durrell. A move to sunny Corfu in the 1930s by the eccentric Durrell family begins a lifetime's fascination with the animal kingdom for young Gerald. While Gerald explores the landscape and wildlife, and befriends the local populace, his Mother has other ideas. Fearing her son is growing too wild, she determines that he recieve an education. Three very different men are engaged to look after Gerald's education..

8 / 10 8 / 10 Perhaps not quite as good as the 1987 TV miniseries, but a superb film realisation nonetheless. One pleasing thing about this movie is that Gerald (Eugene Simon) goes practically feral by the end - wearing just a pair of shorts and covered in a layer of dirt.
