7 / 10 8 / 10 Did anyone notice the movie had a kind of ETishness to it, that's because the Director was a student of Spielberg's! I gave this movie a BIG 10/10, because I thoroughly enjoyed Joel, he was my sole reason for watching, The era was, I believe 1978 or 79, the late 70's were the prominent years for my teen years, I could relate to some of the elements, but at the same time, some of it seemed inaccurate.
I too had never seen Joel before, he was discovered by a Talent Agency when he accompanied his older brother to an Auditioning, and to look at Joel's sweet face, it's easy to see WHY he was signed almost immediately!

10 / 10 8 / 10 I had never seen Joel Courtney before though he was good in this film. I noticed that Zach Mills, unlike the other child actors, never got a close-up being relegated to a minor role as Preston. How could they do this to the star of 'Mr Magorium'?
This was your usual kids Sci-Fi romp and there was nothing above the average about it. Why is it aliens look so grotesquely animal-like and rarely, if ever, wear clothes?

10 / 10 8 / 10 Joel Courtney was great! Hope to see more of him. Riley Griffiths and Elle Fanning were tops too.
Unfortunately, the story made no sense and was disjointed. Hard to bring a film back to life with such a 'downer' beginning to it.
And I love Kyle Chandler, but his character in the film was non-redeemable.
However, Super 8 is definitely a must see film. :)

9 / 10 Joel Courtney was SUPER! I thought Ryan Lee was watchable too! I love the scene where as the train crashes, The one boy (didn't catch which one) yelled RUN! I'm very into this kind of Sci-Fi, especially if there are boys in them! as far as I'm concerned, Spielberg just doesn't make bad movies! I definitely want this one on DVD! This movie, to me, has become a treasured classic! I now own it on BluRay!
