7 / 10 Not a cinematic masterpiece but a decent watch. It was nice to see a film about a gay couple raising a child and I liked how Scot helped the former hockey player Eric combat his internalized homophobia.
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10 Decent, but the 1978 film Ang tatay kong nanay told this story first and told it better, which is no surprise, as it was directed by Lino Brocka, the Philippines' greatest director, who also gave us Manila in the Claws of Light, Bayan ko: Kapit sa patalim and Orapronobis. The excellent Chilean film Rara also deals much better with the subject of same-sex couples rearing children, and the excellent Peruvian film Retablo deals much better with the subject of homosexual parents generally.
