Die Drei ??? - Das Geheimnis der Geisterinsel (2007)

I read every Three Investigators my local library had when I was 9 and 10. I wanted to be them. This movie did justice to my memory of the books. I thought the acting was above average and the plot classic Three Investigators. This film allowed me to relive a slice of my childhood.

Duma (2005)

Broiler plate dialog and plot bring this picture down. The scenery and wild life shots bring the rating up to a five.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

One of my all time favorites. I only wish Steven had left it alone and not re-edited it after 9-11. The walkie-talkies he substituted for the guns look funny in the end scenes. And the removal of the terrorist word is stilted. Do yourself a favor and find an old edition.

This movie should have been much better. The performances are stilted and predictable. The writing sappy.

Far from Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog (1995)

A let down as far as I was concerned. Angus was robotic and the other cast members acted like they where reading their lines from the script. The only time Angus seemed natural was when he was acting surly like a real teenager. Then he wasn't acting. His performance in the woods was O.K.

I enjoyed this movie and was able to overlook the flaws. A good movie for the family to watch together.

Fireflies in the Garden (2008)

The performances of young Michael and Christopher where top notch. They held their own against two powerhouse actors, Julia Roberts and Willem DaFoe. I thought the whole film rang true. Death tends to bring out the best and worst in us.

This is one of my favorite films. I always enjoy watching it. The production values are high and the acting above average.

A very good remake of a Fist Full Of Dollars set in urban America with a young handsome protagonist.

A substandard script is responsible for half of the poor performances. My favorite actors phoned in their performances and made this a must miss movie.

Golemata voda (2004)

An excellent look behind the iron curtain post WWII. The treatment of the children is disturbing. I enjoyed this movie. The closed captioning was better than most.
