Tom Brown's Schooldays (2005)
Since this is the only version I've seen, and haven't read the book, I can't say how it compares. But it was a good production with good performances by Alex Pettyfer, Stephen Fry, and the other lads.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10The Toy (1982)
In many ways what 'First Kid' was based upon. Although on more than one occasion it seems like the actors are just following the script rather than acting, and Richard Pryor just can't step outside his hysterical-mad-man stereotype, the Pryor-Schwartz relationship comes off really well.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Two and a Half Men (2003-2015)
Very average comedy.
Having watched a few episodes to give it a chance, I'm going to change 'average' to 'mediocre' :-P
My Movie Rating: 5 / 10Unbreakable (2000)
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Uncle Buck (1989)
John Candy was one of the all-time great American comic actors, and this was a great example of his work. I can also see why John Hughes made Mac the star of Home Alone on the strength of his performance in this as well.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Unstrung Heroes (1995)
A fantastic movie.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10The Upper Hand (1990-1996)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10The Van (1996)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Vice Versa (1988)
Just about stays on the right side of watchable rather than irritating.
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10La Vita è bella (1997)
The devotion of Roberto Benigni's character to his son brought tears to my eyes. A very simple, but powerful movie.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Voor een verloren soldaat (1992)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Vor (1997)
I'm always worried with subtitled films that I won't be able to follow the storyline well enough while taking in the atmosphere of the film at the same time. That certainly wasn't the case with this movie though - I think "captivating" is an appropriate word. Fantastic movie, if tragic.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Walkabout (1971)
A beautiful film. Roeg mixes film and sound effects with the wonderful scenery of the Australian outback to create a truly stunning visual feast.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10War of the Buttons (1994)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10The War (1994)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Wild Palms (1993)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
A good, fantastical adaptation of Roal Dahl's book.
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Witness (1985)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10The Wonder Years (1988-1993)
