Full Court Miracle (2003)

I didn't see the whole movie, just about two thirds. It wasn't really very exciting. Actually I don't mind having missed the last part.

Funny Games U.S. (2007)

This is a one-of-a-kind horror movie.

Absolutely stunning, shocking, devastating, utterly horrifying.

Young Devon is an absolute charmer with a shining stage presence and aces his part... there are many emotional scenes for him, and the one sequence to be watched out for is when he tries to escape the two sadists... its a dream-like escape attempt, a moment almost taken from a child's nightmare... you try to run, you try to hide, you fear for your life... but there's no way out...

The Garden (2006)

Well, the movie does not warrant a higher rating than a 5. Had not there been a boyactor in it with substantial screen time and a very solid performance, I would not even have awarded it with such a high rating. The storyline is markedly religious, so better have your bible ready. Looks like a rather cheap producation, only two or three moments with Adam are somewhat decent. He does a good job, is appealing and the only cause which made me watch through.

Geppetto (2000)

A musical. I liked it, it has some nice images. Seth Adkins did a fine job. Slightly above the average.

Ghettokids (2002)

Good movie dealing with frictions caused by cultural assimilation. Honest in its portrayal of disillusion and desperation. Straightforward and genuine.

Ginostra (2002)

The movie is long and not able to keep up any sort of suspense level. A straight 4.

Gladiator (2000)

This is a real blockbuster. Wonderful images, great story. Definitely a must-watch, indeed. It is filled with outstanding fighting sequences as well as solid and convincing character portrayals. One of Russell Crowe's best ever performances.

The Glass House (2001)

I expected a lot when I watched the movie. Hence it did by no means live up to my expectations. I generally agree with the other ratings here, but I think the movie isn't that bad again. It has its thrilling sequences, the story is okay, a bit suspense, and the end is also okay. The acting is a point of criticism, right. Trevor Morgan was shallow as a character, which wasn't his fault but due to a bleak script. There could have been much more accomplished by a better director, as the story itself has some quality.

La Gloire de mon père (1990)

This is a movie for those who enjoy magic and nostalgia while floating away in childhood memories. It is the calm and enchanting story of the adventures of Marcel Pagnol. Julien Ciamaca does an outstanding job, he is handsome, naive and buoyant. The landscape and the narrative style make this movie, at least in my eyes, a real masterpiece. The entire story is full of nostalgia and deals with Marcel's very own perception of life. His friendship with Lili is honestly depicted and wonderfully staged. The boys do a great job, indeed. It is a tale that takes you back to contemporary France and revives the summer in the Provence region, a summer full of innocent joy and adventures. Inspiring and well-acted, the setting is beautiful and the music just perfect. All characters are well cast.

Good Boy! (2003)

I'll have to give it an 8. Liam Aiken has much screen time and is absolutely endearing in his role as the lonesome kid. I do admit that the story itself is rather predictable and obviously aimed at younger kids, but the message shines through. This message is the gift of friendship and trust, symbolized by Liam and his dog, but to be adapted to any kind of relationship. Liam does a brilliant job in showing his emotions and thus makes the movie valuable. Inspiring and very decent with a universal message - how many movies have that??

Wonderful interaction between Macauley and Elijah. Wonderful. Thrilling and very suspense-packed. The ending is emotionally very demanding and tough. Excellent performances by the boys.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)

One rating point above part one, so a solid 8. The storyline has markedly grown in complexity and depth. The character performances are more pervasive and convincing. A wonderful movie for everyone, entertaining and again a festival of visual accomplishments. The cast is utter brilliant, as in all the HP parts. Rupert Grint in particular will always be remembered as Ron Weasley. Awesome character!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)

A solid 7. This one is the least powerful of the Harry Potter series to my mind. The visual artwork is of course stunning, and the characters are perfectly cast indeed. Daniel Radcliffe is just awesome, as is Rupert Grint, the funny, ginger-haired friend of Harry. This boy has a face which would look ridiculous in any other movie but fits perfectly for Ron Weasley's character. The story is not as complex as the following ones, but still sophisticated and well developed. A fine and good start for the adventures of everyone's favorite sorcerer's apprentice.
