Excellent movie, great boyactor.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Dunston Checks In (1996)
Funny movie, interesting story, nice transformation. It's one of these typical entertainment movies you either love or can't stand. Eric Lloyd is a very talented young actor, indeed.
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10Dutch (1991)
Right, I remember this one. It was great to see how Ed O'Neill managed to deal with Ethan's character. The movie features some very smart sequences. One of the better road movies, not too serious, but then again very sincere.
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
It's been a long time since I saw this one. Got to look out for it again. It is a classic masterpiece, anything below a 9 is inacceptable. Remarkable, inspirational performances. Again, a real classic.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10East Is East (1999)
This movie becomes the better the longer you watch it. It eventually heads towards a very convincing final climax and features an absolutely believable portrayal of socio-cultural frictions within a multicultural family. The actors do a fine job. Watch out for young Sajid.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Edges of the Lord (2001)
The kids in here do a marvellous job. What struck me was that Haley, despite being the leading character, was almost equalled by Liam Hess and Richard Banel and their genuine performances. The underlying themes are very sophisticated. The setting and the historical context add lots of authenticity to the plot and to the individual accomplishments.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Eight Legged Freaks (2002)
Nothing great, but entertaining.
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10Emil und die Detektive (1931)
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10Empire of the Sun (1987)
Christian Bale forever. What he did in this movie is beyond any criticism. The scene on the roof of the building during the air raid is maybe the finest and most fabulous scene ever in movie history. A masterpiece, get it, see it, enjoy it. Wonderful acting and setting. One of the finest coming of age stories ever.
My Movie Rating: 10 / 10En Som Hodder (2003)
I can only repeat what I've said for Mirakel.
My Movie Rating: 5 / 10En tu ausencia (2008)
A solid 10 for me. Touching and deeply moving story, great actors, beautiful landscape, brilliant soundtrack. And Gonzalo is one gorgeous young actor.
My Movie Rating: 10 / 10Ender's Game (2013)
I haven't read the book, so from a rather unbiased perspective I was profoundly impressed by the story and Asa's performance. I for once enjoyed the 100 minutes rollercoaster ride.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Enemy at the Gates (2001)
A very good movie indeed, strengthened by the ruthless depiction of the real historical circumstances as a background. Gabriel actually had a very important part, thus he was able to transmit his talent and his skills in some outstanding sequences. He kind of shone in the midst of utter destruction and the brutalities of war. His performance was straight; he was even able to attach some sort of emotional edge to the story, and his ultimate fate serves as a symbol for the cruelties of warfare.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Entrusted (2003)
Solid movie. Thomas Sangster has much screen time and does a pretty good job.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Eres mi héroe (2003)
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10El Espinazo del Diablo (2001)
The story is brutal and eerie from the very beginning onwards. Fernando Tielve introduces 12-year-old Carlos, the main protagonist who suffers from emotional isolation at the very outset. With him the setting is presented, a remote orphanage in the middle of nowhere, run by a curt but considerate headmistress named Carmen and Professor Casares, an old and big-hearted sympathizer of General Franco's Republican cause.
It's Carlos and the way he fits into the somewhat bleak routine of daily life, the way he gradually triumphs over the bullying and his first encounter with a ghostlike phantom that makes most of the first part of the story. The atmosphere is wonderfully staged, the use of dim twilight and shades, of gradual gloominess and the visual transformation of Santi, the defaced and martyred ghost is superior and keeps you tensely mesmerized.
Santi, as he keeps on haunting Carlos, seems to embody a dark secret, to be the incarnation of an atrocious outrage. Carlos, while gradually establishing a feeling of comradeship if not real friendship towards some of the other boys, becomes aware of Jacinto, the orphanage's overseer, who reacts violently when anyone is caught looking around a particular storage room or the basement which is filled out by a dirty well.
The second half of the movie leads to manifold brutalities and reveals the qualities of the protagonists' grit. Jacinto plays havoc with the orphanage and kills a great many of the boys. Carlos and his friends then demonstrate outstanding bravery and commitment to their cause as they fearlessly lead off the fight. They retaliate Santi's murder as well as the slaughter of their pals and tutors in a scene appalling in its brutality and laudable in its determination.
The emotional implications as the boys exact vengeance display their courage and fortitude when there was dire need of resistance and morally challenging deeds. In this climax lies the major theme of the movie. Santi, symbolizing the legacy of any outrage, Carlos and his friend Jaime, the strongest champions of moral virtues and consciousness, Jacinto, the greedy and ruthless beast and Professor Casares, the caring and stout fighter for fairness and his boys' well-being, they make up the story. Thus it is not an ordinary ghost movie, but rather a story of individual struggles and individual human virtues let off at each other amidst hostile environments and atrocious challenges.
Wonderful accomplishment, highly recommended.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Être et avoir (2002)
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10Everything That Rises (1998)
Great cast and nicely developed story. Particularly recommended for those like me who like compelling father-son relationships. A classic drama that focuses entirely on one family and the hardships ensuing from an appalling accident. Ryan Merriman does a very convincing job. Watch out for the final rodeo scenes.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Explorers (1985)
I very much agree with Cal. The beginning is very promising, but hey, the aliens are pathetic.
