My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Es ist ein Elch entsprungen (2005)
Unusual and heartwarming.
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Escapade (1955)
Interesting piece that doesn't quite succeed in being as funny or as profound as it is trying to be.
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Escape From Wildcat Canyon (1998)
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10Escape Into Night (1972)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)
Delightful!
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Espérame mucho (1983)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10El Espinazo del Diablo (2001)
Cracking film that Guillermo del Toro has called his most personal work, and that must surely be his best, much better than e.g. The Shape of Water, which has some great visuals and one great character but suffers from simplistic and overly obvious plotting. Here, Fernando Tielve makes an appealing lead. He had never been in a film before and only auditioned to be an extra, but del Toro obviously got other ideas. Unlike many coming-of-age pictures set in orphanages and children's homes, this one depicts a place that, apart from the obvious bad apple, is OK by the standards of the time and run by decent people. It's also a bit unusual in that the protagonist is not a heavily-bullied shy outcast but quite bold and socially savvy.
My Movie Rating: 10 / 10L'Estate di mio fratello (2005)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10A Estrela Mais Brilhante (2011)
The plot is sentimental and unoriginal but Miguel Mestre's grave, understated performance goes some way towards redeeming the piece.
My Movie Rating: 6 / 10L'Été de Mathieu (1998)
Solid film from the 'Regards d'enfance' TV movie series.
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Un été sans point ni coup sûr (2008)
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Être et avoir (2002)
Lovely documentary, a very valuable look at a 21st-century one-room schoolhouse, despite a few scenes that were set up by the director, e.g. the one where the parents try to help the boy with his homework.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Eugenio (1980)
Another of Luigi Comencini's very fine films of childhood. Good acting from Francesco Bonelli.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Európa messze van (1995)
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Eva & Adam - fyra födelsedagar och ett fiasko (2001)
Worth seeing if you liked the TV series, but the series is better -- much better than the rather silly Livet enligt Rosa.
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Everybody Hates Chris (2005-2009)
Funny at times and deals better with race and class than most US sitcoms.
My Movie Rating: 7 / 10Everything That Rises (1998)
