Synopsis

In a bustling seaside town bazaar stands the wooden booth of a "cold shoemaker," a thirteen-year-old boy named Artyomka. One day the schooner Krasotka pulled into port. Two passengers disembarked: Chambers Peps, a professional wrestler and a black man and Popov, a revolutionary. Artyomka chanced upon Peps and soon through his influence, became a regular at the local circus. There he met the clown Kubyshka and his daughter, Lyasya, a circus rider. Soon Artyomka began assisting Popov, the revolutionary.
