Synopsis
The film intertwines five separate stories of people whose lives are touched by the Camorra, a criminal organisation operating in Naples and the Campania region of Southern Italy. Against the backdrop of the 2004-2005 Faida di Scampia (Scampia feud) between the di Lauro gang and the scissionisti (secessionists), Tot?, a 13-year-old grocery delivery boy, becomes involved in a Camorra drug-dealing gang whose criminal activities escalate to murder as the feud intensifies.
Notes
- Based on the 2006 non-fiction book of the same name by Italian writer Roberto Saviano (b. 1979), who also collaborated in the film's screenplay
- Winner of numerous awards, including the Grand Prix at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The movie also appeared on several critics' top ten lists of the best films of 2008.
