Synopsis
A gadget salesman looking for a special gift for his son Billy (Zach Galligan) purchases a small, furry 'mogwai' (Cantonese for 'devil') from a Chinatown store. The shopkeeper warns him that the mogwai must never be exposed to bright light or water, and that it must never be fed after midnight. When these rules are broken, the result is a horde of little gremlins that create comical mayhem in Billy's home town on Christmas Eve.

- This film had a sequel entitled "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" (1990).
