Synopsis
Gopal, an orphan boy who is cared for by two village women, lives in his own world, close to nature. He is socially ostracised, and thrashed by villagers for his naughty ways, but nothing really affects him. The only creature he really cares about is a stray dog. So, when the dog is killed by Sammadar for eating his food, Gopal is left heartbroken.

- Inspired by the poem of the same name by the celebrated Indian poet and polymath Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941)
- "Chheleta" is Bengali for "The boy".
