Synopsis

A new pupil, Mathias, has joined the seventh grade, but his classmates are annoyed with him because he is frequently late, goes home early and, on top of it, performs badly at school. On a school outing, however, the pupils find out the reasons behind Mathias' behavior: Mathias' mother is blind, and, since the death of her guide dog "Bella" (a death which was the fault of Heiner, one of Mathias' classmates), Mathias has had to take care of his mother and run errands for her. The pupils now put their heads together to find a way of helping Mathias and his mother. Finally they come up with a solution: Heiner's dog "R?pel" is to become the new guide dog.
