Synopsis
Following the Battle of Waterloo, ex-convict Jean Valjean is released after 19 years imprisonment for stealing a loaf of bread, and manages to reinvent himself as a factory owner. He also becomes guardian to a young girl, Cosette, after the death of her mother. However, throughout this time, he is relentlessly pusued by Inspector Javert. Years later, Cosette and a man called Marius fall in love with each other, but Valjean, unnerved by the increasing political unrest in Paris, decides to take Cosette to England, leaving a heartbroken Marius to take part in the 1832 Paris Uprising against the recently established Orl?anist monarchy...
