Synopsis
A darkly humorous, heavily fictionalised account of Brian Clough's doomed 44 day tenure as manager of England football club Leeds United.

- Adapted from the 2006 novel "The Damned Utd" by English writer David Peace (b. 1967)
- Although this film was released to widespread critical acclaim, it has been criticised for numerous factual inaccuracies - BBC Sports journalist Pat Murphy noted 17 factual inaccuracies in the film, including various errors regarding the timing of events. The film has also been criticised for its portrayal of some of the characters, and the producers were subject to a successful legal action by one of the characters portrayed in the film, former football manager Dave Mackay (Mackay won a public apology and an undisclosed sum in damages). The movie is thus best appreciated as a work of dramatic fiction using actual historical figures and some actual events, rather than as 'biography'.
