Synopsis

Four years after his ninth birthday, when he had received five mysterious gifts, including a broken toy horse, from his grandmother (Si?n Phillips), Gwyn (Osian Roberts) can feel danger coming. Somehow he knows that the danger has to do with the toy horse that holds the evil spirit of a prince who lived long ago. When Gwyn discovers that the prince's dark soul has escaped from the horse and is seeking revenge, he - along with his friends Emlyn (Steffan Morris) and Nia - have to figure out how to save Evan Llyr, the mysterious, recently-injured soldier who claims to be Nia's distant cousin. With the help of the Snow Spider, can the prince's soul be recaptured without hurting Evan, the 'Chestnut Soldier'?

• Based on the 1989 novel of the same name by British author Jenny Nimmo (b. 1944), this novel being the third and final part of 'The Magician Trilogy', preceded by "The Snow Spider" (1986) and "Emlyn's Moon" (1987). Each of these two earlier volumes were also turned into miniseries, transmitted in 1988 and 1990 respectively.
