Synopsis
Director and critic Mark Cousins films his niece and nephew, Laura and Ben, as they play with a plastic 'marble run' one morning after breakfast. How they react to the camera leads Cousins to consider the various roles of children in film in a sequence of 67 clips from 53 movies, including such classics as "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial", "The Steamroller and the Violin", "Great Expectations" (1946), "Fanny and Alexander", "The Night of the Hunter", "Kes", "Long Live the Republic" (1965), "Zero de Conduite", "The Kid" (1921), "Emil and the Detectives" (1931) and "Mirror" (1975).

An excellent documentary that introduces you to numerous child actors; some of them I have never heard. It made my watch list quite active for a while.
