The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters
(1963-1964)

TV Series

Country: USA

Genre: Western

IMDb

Synopsis

In 1849, 12-year-old Jamie McPheeters (Kurt Russell), along with his ne'er-do-well father and a ragtag group of pioneers, travels westward from Kentucky to the gold fields of California.

Notes

  • Based on the 1958 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by American writer Robert Lewis Taylor (1912-1998)
  • Nine episodes of this series featured real life 'barbershop quartet' the Osmond Brothers (this was prior to the addition of Donny and little Jimmy Osmond to the group) playing the singing sons of the Kissel family, who each had a given name derived from a book of the Old Testament: Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Micah and Lamentations.
  • The series only ran for a single season (comprising 26 episodes). Kurt Russell and Charles Bronson were to reprise their roles as Jaimie McPheeters and Linc Murdock respectively in the 1964 theatrical movie "Guns of Diablo", which was an expanded colour version of the series' final episode, "The Day of the Reckoning".
