Synopsis
When the mother of 5-year-old Seryozha remarries a man named Dimitri Korostelyov, the boy is initially wary of his new stepfather. But the man wins him over by becoming his friend and confidant. Seryozha feels that Korostelyov perceives him as an independent person, and is someone who communicates with him as an equal and who respects his thoughts and actions. However, when Seryozha's mother has another child, and Seryozha is no longer the focus of his mother's attention, he begins to feel abandoned...
Notes
- Based on the 1955 novel of the same name by Soviet novelist Vera Panova.
- Winner of the Crystal Globe at the 1960 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
- In the film poster (top left on this page), the words in the main window, below the film title, are the subtitle the film bore in Russia (which was also the subtitle of the 1955 novel) and which translates as: 'A few stories from the life of a very small boy'.
