Synopsis

At the end of World War II Achim and his brother Werner have to flee from the Russian offensive to the west together with their mother. They head for Glachau, the home of their aunt Leni. During the journey, their train is hit by bombs and the severely injured mother is taken to a military hospital. Attempting to visit her, the boys miss the departing train. They have no other choice but to set off for their aunt?s by themselves.
