Synopsis
Set in a bleak coastal backwater, this poetic tale follows 10-year-old Xiang as he loses his father to illness, then moves in with his estranged mother and harsh stepfather with only his artistic imagination to brighten the days. Xiang becomes friends with his teacher, a school janitor and a local ruffian, but Xiang's vanished older brother haunts his dreams.
