This was one of the few memorable boy TV shows featuring as it did the wonderful talent of young Billy Mumy. Coupled with the over-the-top performance from Jonathan Harris as Dr Smith and not forgetting the robot, they almost carried the show between the three of them. The rest of the characters were pretty staid by comparison and reduced to little more than cyphers. It would seem Will's parents shouldn't have let their son anywhere near Dr Smith being the cowardly, selfish character he represented. But this unusual combination only proved to be the essence of the series without which it would have got nowhere.
The imaginative props look dated now but that takes nothing away from the high standard of entertainment provided. A real TV classic.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10I loved Billy Mumy in this show. Billy is a great young actor in anything he does. The show was amazing for so many reasons but sadly I think it was around longer than it needed to be. Near the end the show was almost unwatchable. It's a shame because it started out great. Still, it's a classic and worth watching.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10The first season of this series was a lot of fun, however the show deteoriated with a lack of realistic ideas and appeared to be confined to unimaginative studio sets and outrageously campy acting from Jonathan Harris. If you can get hold of the first season Billy Mumy is a treat as Will.
My rating: Seasion One 9/10, Season two 7/10, Season three 5/10.
