Synopsis
A memory of school days just after World War II, in Czechoslovakia. Seen through the eyes of the inventive 10-year-old Eda who has an overactive imagination; he terrifies a picnic party with home made rockets, later when asked by his teacher to deliver a note to a nearby school, he hitches a ride on a passing freight train and ends up miles from home. The new teacher is a militant disciplinarian brought in to control the class.

- Director Jan Sver?k was to write and direct a prequel to this film, entitled Po strnisti bos (2017).
