Synopsis
13 y/o Willie MacLean, the lone, male survivor of his family is a veteran of the pit. He lost his cherished companion, a pony named Gem, to a mine cave-in while saving the life of a fellow mine boy at the age of 11. His courage and ability to think quickly are well known. His closest friends are: Angus, a freckled-faced softy, and Molly, a delightful tomboy.

8 / 10 Good series based on Joyce Barkhouse's novel. Ellen Page appears in her first-ever role.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10 Great 30 minute series from Canada. Very interesting plots each week, and a very hansome young lead. Hopefully, he will appear soon in some more work!

I've only seen Season 1 of this series. Very little about pit ponies in it. Quite pleasant after the first few episodes, once the series has got all the pseudo-Celtic cliches out of its system. Willie is a little mature beyond his years. I loved Spider, though. I think he ought to have had a separate spin-off series, 'The Adventures of Spider'.
