- Carl Barlow was the rosy-cheeked boy who pushed his bike up to 'Ma Peggoty's' house in a fictional northern town, in one of the most celebrated commercials in Britain's history, directed by Ridley Scott. Barlow, who was 13 at the time the ad was filmed, went on to become a fireman. (Ridley Scott went on to have some success in his chosen career, as well.)
