Captains Courageous (1937)

I'm glad the Director chose Black and White film to make this movie, with B/W the viewer focuses more on the characters than the scenery! My Dad was just 6 yrs. younger than Freddie, and he used say that Freddie was that good playing the brat because was a brat in real life, I had trouble believeing it, because an actor is usually at their best when their playing their stark opposite! This movie has been a beloved classic for decades, and will be for years to come, because it had some of the best actors in hollywood in it! Trivia: The Father of Actor David Carridine (Kung Fu tv series) plays one of the characters in the movie!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

Freddie was perfect! Jorden was lovable as the obnocious little brat Mike Teevee, a stark opposite of the original! I don't think this movie was any better than the Willy Wonka version, but it's AS good, I just don't care too much for Tim Burton, He leans too much toward the macob, in film making, all of his films have very "Gothy" aroma to them.

Christmas on Division Street (1991)

A wonderful story of love, compassion, and the spirit of giving! And Fred does remarkably well. I think this was one of Hume cronyn's last films.

A Christmas Story (1983)

The funniest movie Darren McGavin ever made! one of my favorite movie lines is in this movie, "You'll shoot your eye out!" a few yrs. after I saw this movie the 1st time , my (then) 8 y.o. Nephew got a BB gun for Christmas, the 1st words out of my mouth were "You'll shoot your eye out!" I enjoyed this movie eminsely, and watch evry year at Christmas time! You will find yourself trying tell Scott NOT to stick his wet tongue on the flag pole! :)

The Clown (1953)

I watched Red Skelton on tv when I was barely out of diapers, he had a varity show every tuesday night on NBC if memory serves, and I've seen all of his movies! this one was one of his best, the funniest scene was Dodo's tv show, the skit called Topsy Tervey! I laugh my @ss off every time I see it! Tim Constidine was adorable!

The Cowboys (1972)

I could be wrong, but I think it was Bobby Carridines character that died in the stampede! I love this movie, it was one of my first boy movies, that I watched solely on the basis that boys were in it! I'm the same age as Clay, and he was the reason I was attracked to the movie. beyond that, it's a great coming of age story, they leave boys and come back men!

Damien: Omen II (1978)

Jonathan was outstanding! very convincing, this movie was resposible for starting the phobia on Rott-Weilers, the scene were 2 attack the man on the bridge, I saw a show yrs. later that pointed at this theory, this movie did extremely well at the box office, so it's understandable why the phobia got started! superb acting, Jonathan and Lucas did well up against some A-List actors!

I hope this wasn't the only movie Jonathan was in, he has a strong screen presence, and he's "Drop Dead" gorgeous! :)

3/10/13 I must correct myself, I was mistaken on which movie the scene of the Rottwieler's attack on the man on the bridge, it was the 1st movie, "The Omen" 1976 with Gregory Peck and Harvey Stephens as Damien! I apologize for the mistake!

David Copperfield (1999)

Daniel comes from an acting family, so it's natural for him to be so talented, he is adorable as David, those white pants he wears in the dock scene made me melt in my shoes!:)

Bob Hoskins was a delight, as always! A great version of the Copperfield story! I could watch it again and again!

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

Billy had a lot of acting experience by the time he was in this classic! I thought he did very well! Actor Michael Rennie was relatively unknown by American Audiences, That's why he was chosen to play Klaatu, back in the days of Technicolor, Directors would often choose Black and White film to make a movie, because with it, the Audiences focused more on the characters than the scenery! in the scene where Gort carries Patricia Neal to the spaceship, she had to be rigged with a Crane to help the stunt actor in the suit carry her, he couldn't lift her by himself!

I like this movie much better than the remake! I like Jaden Smith and Keanu Reeves, they both did well, but when I compare one movie to the other, the remake doesn't hold a candle!

Dolphin Tale (2011)

Based on REAL events, there's nothing better than real life, at least in my book! Nathan was outstanding, he kept my interest throughout the movie. I hope this movie/story inspires kids to get involved with wildlife preservation. Free Willy was a great story, but it's based on fiction, this movie is based actual events! note: during the closing credits, are clips of the real Dolphin and the real Sawyer Nelson!

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

This movie, in my opinion is the ulimate boy movie! I went to see it when it 1st premiered in theaters, I liked so much I went back several times. The story is as much about Elliott as it is E.T.

9/16/2012 I just watched this movie again, after 30 years it's STILL the ultimate boy movie!

The Earthling (1980)

A very emotionally powerful movie! Ricky was outstanding!! I've followed his career since I 1st saw him in The Champ!

William Holden was amazing! William and Ricky grew very close during the production, enough that Rick and his Wife named one their kids Holden, in his memory! William was terminal with cancer, I think some of the scenes where he was hurting ,were real pain! dying of cancer is 2nd only to burning to death, as the most painful way to die!

10/10 go to William and Ricky equally!

Empire of the Sun (1987)

I started following Bales career after seeing this movie, he IS the consimate actor, he goes to great lenghts to study for a roll, He starved himself for upto 3 days to prepare for 1 scene in the movie American Psycho! and in this movie he did well playing the snobish british boy, turned desperate prisoner, trying to survive. I think it took a few years to make this film, because Bale looks much older at the end of the film, usually a production Co. will film the start and finish of a film, to insure it gets finished,( if something happens to one of the key actors before the completion, they can compensate. ie. actor John Candy died before the completion of the film Wagons East, but because they filmed both the opening and ending, they were able to compensate for his absence). This is one of Speilbergs best works!
