Whiskers (1997)

Darn it, this was a really cute idea for a boy movie. With a better script and less slapstick it could have been a really good one. Michael Caloz brightens it up considerably.

A Wrinkle in Time (2003)

Hmm. I think a core of simplicity is the key to a good fantasy adventure. This one seems cluttered up with unnecessary events and characters. But David Dorfman is well worth seeing.

The X Files (1993-2018)

To me, the first 3 or 4 seasons were a treat. Practically all my favorite episodes fall outside of the 'aliens among us' thing, a running plot scheme which as the seasons wore on became very tiresome and incomprehensible. The 2 main characters, agents Mulder and Scully, had a unique and pleasing chemistry - never romantically involved but nevertheless devoted to one another and behaving exactly like a married couple.

All the Kind Strangers (1974)

An assembly-line TV movie from the period. Strictly a showcase for several attractive boys.

Always Will (2007)

I'll give it an extra point for sincere effort by a group of amateur indie filmmakers. The story is rather intriguing but very hard to follow details of its development. They really need to concentrate on editing skills if he/they plan to make another one.

Amazing Stories (1985-1987)

A VERY uneven series. There were a few gems like the pilot, "Ghost Train" but many of the entries seemed like anecdotes, rather than stories with a beginning, middle and end. I had the impression Spielberg lost interest in this series very quickly, or that he was simply ill-suited to half-hour storytelling.
