Synopsis
After the American Civil War, a rebel soldier and his wife become pioneer farmers in Florida. Their son Jody is 11; he gets along well with his warm and affectionate pa, but his ma is haunted by the death of her other children. When a snake bites pa, he kills a doe to use its organs to draw out the poison. Jody keeps the doe's fawn as a pet and the boy and deer are soon inseparable.

2 / 10 8 / 10 Wonderful movie, indeed. Considering its year of production the visual accomplishments are simply amazing. Hard to believe that this colourful und genuine portrayal of a pioneer family is already 60 years old.
