Synopsis
Ten year-old Max finds himself listening to the virtuoso guitar-playing of a gypsy named Miraldo. Max is transfixed by the unusual music: he has discovered Manouche. He is drawn to this haunting music, heading off to the wrong side of town, where the gypsies live, a place he knows he is not supposed to visit. He buys a guitar and convinces Miraldo to tutor him. Soon he is discovering a whole new world of gypsy jazz, as well as a girl named Swing.

Lovely Tony Gatlif film. Mondo is perhaps his most beautiful work and his best film after that must surely be Korkoro, which is about the Romani experience of the Holocaust.
