Synopsis
John Benson is the town ne'er-do-well, a failed inventor who has labored the past 20 years on what he believes is a revolutionary fire extinguisher. Billy (Joe Butterworth), his only son, has acquired a reputation for belligerence because of his habit of defending Benson's reputation with his fists. As a result, Billy has few friends. Finally, when one of Mr. Benson's inventions proves marketable, Sidney Martin, a crooked lawyer, and his accomplice, Walter Howe, plan to steal it. They frame Benson, get him thrown in jail, and steal the blueprints for his invention. Can Billy clear his father's name and take back the blueprints?
