Synopsis
Southern Italy 1978, the hottest summer of the century. The only ones who venture outside are the hamlet’s six children, who tear around the place on their bicycles. Life’s dull and an adventure certainly wouldn’t go amiss. An adventure occurs – but it’s more dangerous than they could ever have imagined. In the midst of the cornfields, a terrible crime is committed. When nine-year-old Michele comes across it by chance, his discovery has quite unexpected consequences.

6 / 10 A marvellous Italian film with the lead boy, Giuseppe Cristiano, looking every inch your typical Italian boy. He plays Michele who finds the kidnapped son of a rich couple in a deep hole in the countryside. The twist in the tale really brings you up with a jolt and you fear, at first, how this will affect the relationship between the two boys. Filmed in the beautiful Italian landscape of cornfields and expansive blue skies it is a delight to watch. The ending might appear a little too 'Hollywoodish' but that doesn't detract too much from the overall plot.
