Biography
Born Dennis Michael Sheffield (his mother insisted that he work under her maiden name of Moore), 'Micky' started out in pictures when he was a mere 4 years old. He is probably now best remembered for his role as the crippled lad healed by Jesus in Cecil B. DeMille's 1927 blockbuster "The King of Kings", where, as John Holmstrom puts it, "he flings his crutch away with such abandon that it nearly brains a bystander. We learn to our surprise that this rather flirtatious curly-head is the future evangelist Mark." ("The Moving Picture Boy", p. 73) Micky would go on to have a successful career as a director and second unit director. Indeed, many years later, Micky would be an assistant director on DeMille's final great religious epic, 1956's "The Ten Commandments" (not to be confused with the 1923 film of the same name, which was also produced and directed by DeMille).
